Disposables vs. Pods: What's the Difference?

A disposable is one sealed unit you throw away when it's empty. A pod system keeps the battery and swaps a small pod. Here's the difference, what each costs you over time, and which suits how you vape.
The difference is what you throw away. With a disposable, the whole device is the product - battery, coil and all - and when the juice runs out you recycle the lot. With a pod system, you keep the battery and replace only a small pod that clicks into it.
That one distinction drives everything else: what you spend over time, how much waste you create, and how much fuss is involved. They can look nearly identical on the shelf, and most people use the two words interchangeably, so here's how to tell them apart in a second.
What is a disposable vape?
A disposable is one sealed unit that arrives pre-filled and already charged. Nothing to build, nothing to plug in, nothing to refill. You take it out of the box and vape. Once the juice runs dry - or the battery gives out, on the smaller non-rechargeable ones - the whole thing is finished and gets recycled.
The appeal is convenience: zero maintenance, no commitment, and an easy way to try a flavour without buying into a whole setup. The trade-off is that you're discarding the entire device each time, battery and coil included, so if you vape daily it adds up over the months and creates more waste. Disposables suit occasional vapers, flavour-hoppers, and anyone who just wants to grab something and get on with the day.
What is a pod system?
A pod system splits things in two: a reusable battery you buy once, and small pods that click into it. Most pods arrive pre-filled and sealed - a "closed" system - so when one runs empty you pop it out, click in a fresh one, and carry on with the same battery. You recharge that battery indefinitely; the pod is the only part you replace.
Because you aren't binning a battery every time, the cost per millilitre generally works out lower the longer you stay with it, and there's considerably less waste. The catch: there's an upfront cost for the device, you'll want a spare pod or two on hand, and each device takes only its own brand's pods - a STLTH battery takes STLTH pods, and so on. Pod systems suit the steady everyday vaper who wants lower running costs without dealing with bottles and refills.
How can I tell them apart quickly?
One test: if you're throwing away the battery, it's a disposable. If you're keeping the battery and swapping a small cartridge, it's a pod. With a disposable the whole thing is the product. With a pod system the device stays and the pod is the consumable.
Is there anything in between?

It suits people who have settled into vaping and want full control.
