Nicotine salt e-liquid: FAQ
What is nicotine salt e-liquid?
Nicotine salt (nic salt) is nicotine blended with an acid – usually benzoic acid – that lowers the pH of the liquid. This lets you vape higher nicotine strengths without the harsh throat hit you'd get from the same strength in freebase juice, while the nicotine is absorbed faster and more closely mimics a cigarette. It's the go-to choice for pod systems and other low-wattage devices.
Nic salt vs. freebase e-liquid – what's the difference?
Freebase juice is smoothest at lower strengths and pairs with higher-wattage, sub-ohm setups that produce bigger clouds. Nic salt stays smooth at higher strengths and suits small, discreet pod devices. If you're using a box mod or sub-ohm tank, our freebase e-liquid is usually the better match; for a pod or pen, choose salt nic.
What nicotine strength should I choose?
As a rough guide, 10 mg/mL suits lighter or occasional vapers and higher-output pods, while 20 mg/mL suits heavier smokers switching over or very small low-output pods. The maximum nicotine strength sold in Canada is 20 mg/mL, so you won't find true 35 mg or 50 mg salt nic here – every bottle is 20 mg/mL or lower. For a bolder hit at that same legal limit, some lines also offer BOLD50 hybrid salts – a stronger-feeling blend that's still 20 mg/mL or lower, not an actual 50 mg concentration.
30mL or 60mL – which size?
Both carry the same strengths. A 30mL bottle is the standard salt-nic size and great for trying new flavours; 60mL is better value per millilitre once you've found a flavour you'll vape regularly.
What devices work with nic salt e-liquid?
Nic salt is made for pod systems and low-wattage pod-mods and pens – small, higher-resistance devices that don't chase big clouds. It isn't suited to high-wattage sub-ohm tanks, which vaporize far more liquid per puff and would deliver too much nicotine. Browse compatible salt nic starter kits to get set up.
